Layer cake – Best recipes, foods and travel

Layer cake

Babe’s Kek Lapis from Indonesia had made me craving for layer cake for several days.

I bought a small square from Eden Bakery but it turned out lousy as it wasn’t fresh and too hard.

Last night, I was having seafood dinner at Gurney and this an auntie who sells cakes from table-to-table asked if I want layer cake. Of course! Without asking for the price, I immediately grabbed one. Hahaha, that’s how much I missed eating layer cake.

It costs RM18 for a rectangular piece. My kids and I had finished the whole cake today. Yummm…it is delicious because it is fresh, very buttery and doesn’t have the over powering smell of the spices.

To enjoy layer cake, one must slice them into small, thin, rectangle piece. Enjoy it with a pot of freshly brewed English tea. No sugar, no cream.

There is a contact left on the cake’s box. It is :
Aroma Homemade Cake
Tel : 890 4068 H/P : 012-421 7300

Another place where you can buy nice layer cake is Sunflower Bakery along Jalan Tanjung Bungah. However, I find Sunflower’s version has too strong spices smell.

    Lilian,
you’re badddddddddd lady, very bad………now you make me craving for layer cake. The most delicious layer cake I ever had was during my family trip to Medan thirteen years ago. On our second day we were introduced to layer cake which was so wicked good. When we boarded our flight from Polonia Airport, my mom had three boxes of layer cakes in her hands and my sister had two boxes. Btw, was it (the photo)the one you had at Gurney Drive?
