Afternoon tea

I am having problems uploading my photos to Flickr. It takes a long, long time just for one photo to get through. I also can’t upload a few photos at the same time. Do other Flickr users face this problem?

Busy day today. So, I shall put up this favourite local cakes of Malaysia. Very scrumptious for afternoon tea.

These are the curry puff, cucur badak and in the background, the doughnut type is the cucuk keria.

Curry puff needs no introduction, right? Cucur badak is made from sweet potato dough, filled with spicy coconut fillings stir fried with shrimps and on the outside, a single shrimp to decorate it. Well made cucur badaks are those made with sweet potatoes and has the right balance of spicy fillings cooked with fresh shrimps. Unfortunately, one can hardly find one in the market.

As for the cucuk keria, it has the same type of dough like the cucur badak. It is boiled sweet potatoes, mashed and mixed with some flour. After frying, it is coated in a layer of melted sugar.

Three delicious local cakes best serve with hot tea or coffee.

Ta ta! Watch out for my marble cake recipe!

  1. boo – Shy to say this (‘cos I know I will probably eat my own words 🙂 later ), I am cutting down on food. That was part of my Pasar Ramadhan ‘show and tell’ photos. I only took the photo! LOL!

  2. On second look, hey, that’s my plate there. So yeah, probably I bought it a few weeks back. But I certainly won’t dare to eat cucur badak, curry puff and cucuk keria all in one sitting. The oil!

  3. Curry puff used to be my favourite tea time snack… especially when its hot…..Nowadays it has become expensive already… and the taste is differrent from those old days…

  4. Hey your photos really make me homesick for all the curry puffs, cucurs, acars, cakes, omelettes, drinks, sirap ros, satay and yummy indian sweets. Alas here in Brisbane, we hardly have all these in one shop nor one sitting…..Looks like a Hungry jacks burger for lunch…
