The “Beginning of the World” restaurant has moved to Batu Maung town. I learn that they had some problem with the neighbouring caretaker who were blocking access to the restaurant. So they were forced to move. You can find them now in a shophouse in Batu Maung, a short distance from the 3-way junction. Alas, the ambience is gone.

I am not a Penangite, but the seafood in Bali-Bali next to Sunshine Square in Farlim is not too bad. I’ve had several satisfied meals there. Their sister restaurant, Bali-Hai, in Gurney Drive, however, is a different plate of crabs (or kettle of fish). There, they cater to the tourists, so …

actually if you go a little further, beyond the bayan lepas town, teluk kumbar, there are a few seafood place, one of which we frequent is “hau peng you”, with batu maung type of stay and affordable seafood… the crab there is RM12 per ekor… a plate of “hair Kor” is RM6 or 8, can’t remember, everything is RM6/8 and the prawn, crab and fish are the expensive stuff…
