People (including the authorities in Kedah) mispelled it as Alor Setar. But if you read the history, the correct spelling is Alor Star. Even the former MB mentioned this in an interview with a local newspapers years back. Now, tell me, which one of these is the correct spelling - Ayer Itam, Air Itam, Air Hitam? There are a few "Ayer Itam" in the Peninsula. Kedah, Johor... It’s the same thing with Alor Star. People (including the authorities in Kedah) mispelled it as Alor Setar.
