Pearl Corn - Pretty and juicy

I found these pretty and juicy looking pearl corn at the supermarket. They are bigger than the regular corn and look fresh. I bought two stalk for RM5.80. There are white and yellow kernels.

I steamed it and found them to be too juicy and watery. With each bite, the juice squirt all over. I prefer the regular corn as they taste milkier. Later, I checked the internet and found that pearl corn is ideally eaten fresh. It does indeed taste better fresh as it is sweeter and juicier.

Yup yup… indeed they are best eaten fresh! You can find them in abundance when you visit Cameron Highlands. I’d love to get my hands on some right now but I don’t think they sell these in KL.
