Last year, I dropped my camera and had to make do with a crappy 1.3MP, 3 years old camera. It was frustrating because I love taking macro shots of flowers. In fact, I have over 1,000 photos of flowers in my computer hard disk!
This year, the Penang International Floral Festival 2006 is going to be held at the Botanical Gardens from 29th to 5th June 2006. I am a little puzzled ‘cos this date is mentioned in Tourism Penang website but I saw 28th May – 4th June on the banners that are hung along the road. Hmm…I can’t be sure which is which now.
There is an occasion in the Penang events’ calendar that draws crowds, the tourists as well as the locals. This is the annual floral fest. The fest is held at the Botanic Gardens; indeed, the entire garden will be transformed into a floral wonderland with thousands and thousands of flowers and blooms, of all sizes and gorgeous colours.
Anyway, you can bet that I will be the first to be there to capture the flowers before they wilted. This year, I am going there with two cameras, just for revenge for missing out the opportunity last year.
I just uploaded the batch of photos from last year event which I took with my Canon Powershot A10 camera. Nothing to shout about but worth a peek. There aren’t anything international about the flower show because only some very common flowers are being exhibited. No fancy tulips or exotic Rafflesia. My Flickr album here.
The school holidays in Malaysia starts next Monday, so come to Penang. Hopefully, by then, the durians are dropping. Meanwhile I go off somewhere, not sure where yet…
