Roti & susu cap junjung - A truly M’sian concoction

Got tired of the regular butter and jam spread? Did grandma ever give you this condensed milk aka susu cap junjung and butter on bread? I only recently thought of this and my loaves of bread are disappearing fast.

It is the messiest spread ever. Add a slice of cheese and it tastes even better.

Were you around (I mean was born?) when they had this tin, pyramid shape packets of Milkmaid Condensed milk? I don’t know why they package the milk that way but they used to sell them for us little children as snacks. No wonder I have so many cavities.

BTW, the above milk and butter quantites are just for dramatic effects for my photographs. Don’t overdo on the quantities or else you will be so, very fat!

I had it for breakfast yesterday and today (minus butter). The bread was homemade (my sister made them 2 days ago).

ela - Rex brand, can be found from most supermarkets. Tks for reading! :)

sooi2 - I think those disappeared decades ago la. Hahaha, when I was in primary school that time, we can buy it from the school.

babe_kl - Yeah, it is very neat also with just one snip. Ours we kept in the fridge in a container and my hubby used it for his quacker oats.

    skyjuice - Nice!

romantic - Nowadays the Milo too sweet so we can’t combine but my kids do mix with margerine spread sometimes.

soleilina - Tapi fattening tau. Anyway, I don’t think it is any worse than peanut butter or jam.

A pity that last time condensed milk not the same as now one. Last time one made of real milk. A while back some body brought a can of condensed milk from netherlands. I tell you.. the colour is really yellow and the consistency very thick wor.. and really can taste the milk one.. On the bright side… no, no bright side..
