Easy banana cake - from premix

Actually it doesn’t take much skill to bake a cake from premix flour. However, those who knows how to bake usually prefer making a cake from scratch because premix sometimes have too much bicarbonate soda which can gives the cake a metallic taste.

This photo is too adorable not to share. So, I suppose it is fine to share recipe for making cakes with premix eventhough most of you won’t be able to use the recipe unless you have the same premix. The cake looks so huge. All due to camera tricks. I use macro mode to focus on the cake but my toddler put his face into the frame and I ended up with a yummylicious cake with an adorable baby.

A few basic stuffs comprising five medium size bananas, five eggs, a little bowl of corn oil and a packet of banana cake premix which I bought for only less than RM5. You can get the premix from Cooking Island, i.e. if you live in Penang. Or wait till Erina & Lawrence do mail order. :P

It doesn’t take much work to beat the cake to perfection. The instructions are on the packet so I won’t bore you with details. Instead, enjoy the photos. I picked out some yellow and green sprinkles to jazz up the photo. The cake texture is good, not too sweet, no pungent smell which some banana cakes emit and it is not dry at all.

Besides the huge cake above, there is enough to make one more heart shape cake. Is that economical or what?

My next project is to make egg tarts with cream and vanilla pods.  Watch out!

I absolutely adore banana cakes, they are so “pang” (fragrant) and good.

Talking about making egg tarts, I made some over the weekend…so good; will post my recipe soon and we can compare notes.

i never used premixes…coz they usually produce such humongous cake!! (too leceh to use only half a packet for smaller cake)

but for ur big family i think no problem in finishing it la.

echolow - The info is somewhere here but I can’t find it just yet. Try searching on my sidebar, using the search box? There are several outlets. In Penang, I got it from CookingIsland.
