Recipe:Cha Soba with nori and sesame seeds

IMGP5842

I love mushrooms. Any type. Any form. The rarer the better. But of course, I cannot afford those expensive ones all the time and moreover, they are not found in our local supermarkets. What I can get are mushrooms from Australia, New Zealand and Japan. I made some tempura mushroom yesterday and have four leftovers. So, I boiled it for my cha soba. (green tea noodle)

What I did was to boil the cha soba along with some broccoli and mushroom till cooked. Toss it dry and drizzle some soy sauce (preferably Japanese but what the heck, the kicap is fine with me too) and olive oil. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and nori (dried seaweed).

Now, tell me that this looks awfully yummy! What to do…mushroom is the new meat to me so I gotta pacify myself with visually pleasing foods. Never mind the taste, as long as it looks good on photos.

i lurve mushrooms!! anyway if you’re using the dried black mushrooms, keep the stalks. you can use them to boil vege stock.

soak them then shred up using fingers into floss like strips. deep fry them and sprinkle on yr fried rice or can use it to stir fry noodles like this http://babeinthecitykl.blogspot.com/2006/02/vegetarian-stir-fry-noodles.html

for alternatives, you can check out these vegan tapas recipes i have here http://babeinthecitykl.blogspot.com/2005/09/imbb19-i-cant-believe-i-ate-vegan.html
