Mr. Pot – Sidewalk cafe along Gurney Drive

One fine afternoon, after the movie, Spiderman 3, my kids and I were a little bit hungry because we didn’t get to eat lunch and the movie was awfully long. We had already driven out of Gurney Plaza and hence, needed to find a place for coffee and snacks. So, we passed by this cafe, Mr. Pot along Gurney Drive.

It looks like a nice place to hang around because I can just drop my car by the roadside, enjoy the sea breeze and view (of muds) plus eat.

I had the spicy spaghetti vongole.

My son who was still in school uniform because he rushed from school to the movie, enjoying his ham and cheese sandwich.

I had a nice cup of their coffee. This one receives my approval. But not the spaghetti.

The saving grace is the beachfront seatings. Otherwise, foods are just so-so, price rather expensive and portion small. I think our tea/lunch costs RM70! There are other things that we ate, of course.

Overall, it is a nice place but I only hope they will take away some of the awful dishes (which I am being kind in not mentioning it here). There is no point in having a wide range of foods on the menu when they cannot master just a few good ones. I think a restaurant will do well by being extremely good in a couple of things. Sometimes, patrons return again and again to a restaurant simply because that place has just one terrific, yummylicious food and not because they have fancy-schmancy array of desserts that are just blek. Get what I mean?

Still, if you are along the Gurney Drive area when the other outlets aren’t open for dinner yet already closed for lunch and need a place to hang around, you can give Mr. Pot a try.
