I baked a marble cake today because I have a portion of 72% Swiss dark chocolate which doesn’t taste good. What I did was to microwave the bar of chocolate for one minute on high and added 2 huge teaspoons of cocoa powder.
For the recipe, I have used :
Four eggs
250 grams butter
250 grams caster sugar (because the chocolate is bitter, otherwise, 200 grams for a cake will be enough)
250 grams self-raising flour
Some milk and vanilla essence.
Method :
Even my 10 years old son can now mix a cake. Basically, just cream the sugar and butter with a mixer till white and fluffy. Add in eggs. Fold in flour (use a wooden spoon and gently add in). Add some milk so that the batter has dropping consistency. If you like, add some vanilla essence.
Take 1/3 of the batter and put into the bowl where your chocolate is. Mix well.
I actually goofed up. I should put the chocolate and regular batter in small drops but instead, I put them in layers. Doh, I haven’t bake for a while and hence forgot how to make a nicer pattern. What you can do is to layer the bottom part with regular batter, then, drop the chocolate and regular batter alternately. After that twirl with a chopstick.
Bake at 180 deg. celcius for about 45-60 minutes.
The cake turned out very nice, moist, full of chocolate flavour and very tasty. You may want to check ou the last time I baked a marble cake and how to avoid lousy cakes.
