Sangria recipe, anyone?

I am going to make sangria for the Christmas dinner. I have drank sangria before but do not know how to mix this on my own. I google a bit and found one that use the ingredients I need. I found it on About.com.

Here’s their version :

sangria

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
* 1 Lemon cut into wedges
* 1 Orange cut into wedges
* 2 Tbsp sugar
* 1 Shot brandy
* 2 Cups ginger ale or club soda

PREPARATION:
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon and orange into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sugar and brandy. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale or club soda just before serving.

If you’d like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.

Addition ideas: sliced strawberries, peaches, handful of fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, a shot or two of gin, brandy or rum, a cup of ginger ale, citrus soda pop or lime juice.

Does anyone else have better and easier suggestions? LOL, my older children bugged me to make something alcoholic and this is the most I will allow. So, please don’t give me something too strong. I don’t want them to fry their own brains with alchohol.

  1. The fizzy Screwdriver is always a crowd pleaser:

    1 liter orange juice, chilled
    5 shots of vodka
    250ml soda water
    crushed ice.

    Mix first three ingredient together and chill in fridge. Serve in a glass filled with crushed ice.

    You can do it with other juice as well; apple juice is nice – add a pinch of cinnamon for a christmassy feel 🙂
